Root Login from Grahical interface

I set Mandrake 10 to not auto login my ID. When the graphical interface appears I only see one user. Of coarse when I set the auto login to no I did not check the password first. It has now become quite clear that I don't know what the password was. I do know the root password but can't figure out how to login with it from the graphical interface?

Thanks
Michael

Maybe this is a dumb question, but have you tried just typing "root" in the username field?

I would have tried that but there is no option to enter a login name. You can only click on the user icon which then prompts for the password. That is what I need, how to enter a login name.

Ummm ... you don't need to login in graphically as
root...

Ctrl-Alt-F1
login as root
passwd <user>
and when changed/set

Ctrl-D

Tink
