root dir. and nvidia agp

I recently purchased Suse 9.0 personal. I had troubles with the modem(Conexant HCF v90 56k Data Fax PCI), but Linuxant site has helped(working at 14kps?) I'am unable to get license information. No matter what commands I enter nothing seems to happen. I checked the system and it fails to read the root dir. is the normal? I have also a nvidia geforce 2 mx 400 and I'm trying to get the 3d to work and suggestions would be great.

For the modem, you can download an older non-speed-locked version here . That should fix the speed issue, as for the nVidia driver, read the instructions on nVidia's web site.

The driver you suggested is for HSF not a HCF. I don't think the two are compatable? I have downloaded the nvidia driver but getting the 3d activated seems toi be my problem.

You are right ... I need to learn to read properly before I open my big mouth Try googling for an earlier HCF driver, someone may have one. As for the nVidia issue, there is a good howto on this site ... I can't remember where it is, but use the search function and you should find it. Just remember that you need to be at runlevel 3 to install it.
