Ripping CD's in Ubuntu 11.10


Is there a program I can download to rip CD's like Windows Media Player?

you can rip from the command line, or use a gui. Here are some:

Command line:
http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-r...g-audio-files/

gui:
https://www.linux.com/news/software/...o-cds-in-linux

you may need additional packages to be installed to deal with proprietary things like mp3, a package called "lame" handles this type of encoding.
