Lubuntu is great for systems with low characteristics.

You may also try Puppy Linux, especially if you don't want to mess up the current Windows installation for a first time. It can boot from LiveUSB and keep all its temporary data in an image file held in Windows filesystem.

I've just checked the benchmarks and it seems your netbook is about 10% faster than my old Thinkpad which is running Xubuntu. It's not fast, but it accesses the internet well enough, although I have installed Midori as my browser instead of Firefox.

Don't forget to get the 32-bit version. Even if a 64-bit version of Linux would run (unlike 64-bit Windows, which won't run an N2600, it depends on the motherboard), you probably don't have the memory for it.
