RHEL5 crashes, dump file?

When RHEL5 or any linux machine crashes, does it create a dump file and if so, where does it get stored? We are investigating the issue with a messaging server that crashes due to lack of resources.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This is for Fedora, so may not be far fetched for RHEL:
