hmm u gt stuck in runlevel..
dnt panic its simple n common problem..
change entry in /etc/inittab
open inittab n look out for line

id:5:initdefault:

the problem is accidentally ":" got deleted from the end of the line
put ":" (without quotes) at the ending n its done also check out for "5" is inserted there n reboot ur machine now ur X11 display will run fine..

if u try to go through boot loader menu then it might b complicated for u to understand.. we will go through that way if the way m showing fails..
when it asks for run level enter "5" (without quotes), then in terminal type

vim /etc/inittab

n it opens ur inittab for editing

now change the entries as i mentioned in prior reply..
if it fails post ur feedback n we will go through boot menu

You don't need to edit anything. Just don't use init 6. Use init 3 or 5.
