I HAD rhel installed on a 1st drive working. I wanted to install XBMC and Boxee which have installers for Unbuntu. I tried to compile under rhel, but I had to deal with missing libs.

So, I decided to install Unbuntu as a dual boot on the 2nd drive. Unbuntu installed ok and I know that I had to setup the boot so that the loader saw Unbuntu.

When I restarted my box to boot into rhel, 'no go'. It started to boot from GRUB and then it bales.

Couldn't find all physical volumes for volume group VolGroup00
mount: error 6 mounting ext3

Whatever I did when I installed Ubuntu repatitioned the rhel drive, I think.

I have multiple boot CDs, UBCD4win, Active Boot Disk 5.0, and one that I built with DiskInternals Partition Recovery on it ....

All of which didn't help much ... with DPR, It will itemize different file types into folders (sux) considering I have many code files that are all mixed up ...lol it's a real pain to get them seperated, not to mention the file names are all numbered in the recovery. blah!

So ... my first question to this site is this, (PROBABLY NOT IN THE RIGHT POST, anyway)
Who is the guru that can tell me how to recover the rhel boot without me reinstalling both Ubuntu and RHEL?

now the patitions look like this for the Ubuntu installer ...
Unbuntu is installed on sdb ...

What should I have done when I did install Ubuntu?

What do I need to know to make sure I install RHEL and Ubuntu without stepping on each of them to make a dual boot.

What did you do about the bootloader installation for Ubuntu? The default is to install to mbr of the first drive, is that what you did or did you install to the root partition. From your post, it would seem you have only Red Hat and Ubuntu. Can you post partition information? You didn't indicate whether you can boot anything?

To get partition info, use Ubuntu install CD and run command: sudo fdisk -l and post output herre.

I can't boot Red Hat anymore and Ubuntu is on the 2nd drive and that's not booting either
because I put the bootloader on the 2nd drive root partition as you said.

I'm ready to start over, but it pains me because of the rhel setup and all my code and tweaks.

I thought I would give it another try before I did that.
