rhel 5 repo not working
hi guys,
i've used centos epel repo and rpmforge for my repo on my rhel 5.0, unfortunately both repos are not working while issuing the command yum install .. sample yum.. yum install mysql-server Loading "installonlyn" plugin Setting up repositories rpmforge 100% |=========================| 1.1 kB 00:00 Reading repository metadata in from local files primary.xml.gz 100% |=========================| 4.1 MB 01:45 ################################################## 11248/11248 No Matches found any idea since mysql-server is an existing package on rpmforge |
rhel5.0 is OLD
so you must be paying red hat for the backports for 5.0 ( 5.8 is current 5 ) also rpmforge is INCOMPATIBLE with RHN base repo and will replace red hat system files and make the rhel install incompatible with RHN that is why "yum-priorities" or "yum-protectBase" ARE NEEDED install one of them I recommend "yum-priorities" and configure it so it dose NOT change the base rhel install mysql is in the base redhat install repo it IS IN RHN RHEL5 is not free You MUST have a paid for license then Code:

currently, the setup of my linux box is i have rhel 5 linux since i'm looking if i can run another repo without using the rhel repo since rhel repo required license to obtain the package over yum.
I used the ff repo combination right now and removed rpmforge on the box epel and remi repo installing yum priorities as your suggested still no luck on acquiring mysql package. any ideas? |

if you are going to use RHEL then PAY for it ! now there are two free rebuilds of rhel CentOS 6 and ScientificLinux 6 unless YOU BUY the required license you DO NOT install anything on RHEL Pay for it or use something else CentOS http://centos.org/ Scientific Linux http://www.scientificlinux.org/ |
