hello im new to redhat linux im using redhat linux 9 version im having problem with sound and connecting internet as im new to linux i am feeling very difficult to configur my pc although i have used the commands which where in the linux help but the answer came was permission denied so i request to help me my system configuration is intel 915gav mother board,512ddr ram,ata hd drive ,and other things or on board

You should mention more detail on what kind of problem you are experiencing - what effects you do not get that you expect and so on.

"tail /var/log/messages" may report some error messages that can be helpful. In the menu system->Administration there should be something like "System protocol" - There should be the possibility to get some information about what the system is trying to tell if something does not work.

Welcome to LQ!

Redhat 9 is very old now - Redhat ceased support for it in mid-2004.

May I suggest that you download a more modern distro. Fedora is the free successor to Redhat, the latest version is 5. Other distros that are good for Newbies include Suse and Ubuntu. Ubuntu would be my recommendation.

Updating to a newer version may fix your problems.
