someone said i dont need a driver for my monitor just to rewrite or fix a file. anyway my monitor is a scantron 1821a 1280x1024 18"LCD

compatibility VESa DDC 1/2B horizontal 31.47-khz-80 vertical60hz-75hz
display color 16m


i believe that should be enough specs, ehh?
just in case i have a g force fx 5200 256mb

trying to install rh9


ps 2 weeks ago i burned my 1st cd and last week i bought and put together this bad boy that i am typing on. so i have a pretty steep learning curve exponential baby. but anyway i am tired of windows xp already and would love to come over to the light.

please offer advice that i can follow . what happens after i log in as root is this

[root@localhost root]# what is this giberish dos or linux there of

i would like to have a command list if i dont have a gui . can someone please take the time to help a newbie set up properly because the books oreilly and sams suck ass.

Type "startx" from the command line and that should start the x-server (GUI) if it is installed.

A quick google can get you Linux command lists. Very useful to have around.
