I'm relatively new to linux and I have done some searching for an answer. I got ahold of RedHat 9 because I wanted to install it on my Toshiba 2100cds. I had an initial prob with something about pci=biosirq. I fixed that problem by changing a bios setting. Now I put my pcmcia network card (Netgear fa410tx) in and then boot. It boots fine, I go into the RedHat network configuration GUI and the Hardware is detected as a
nothing is found in the irq, io, etc. When I add a new device to this card it seems to add fine, but when I try to activate it it just seems to freeze and I have to use the reset button to restart.
Note:
same exact thing happens when I try to use a Linksys NP10T
including the detected hardware. Also neither of the cards can be found in the hardware list.
I hope this isn't too longwinded and makes sense to whoever reads it and appreciate any help that you can give me. THX
K, I haven't really fixed it but it does work now. I have two cards so for the hell of it I put the Linksys in first (socket 0) then the netgear (socket 1) and setup eth1 on the netgear and it now starts. Didn't activate eth0.
Just wanted too know if someone could tell me why eth1 works but eth0 freezes my computer and if anyone has a fix for this, because I don't want to have both cards in one computer at all times.
I also swapped the cards around but I can still only use whichever one is put in second and uses eth1. To me this makes no sense, but when I installed rh8 on a desktop it just worked.
