RH 7.2 internet

HI,
Newbie here to linux. Just installed Redhat 7.2 and all working fine exept one thing... i finially got my modem to work and i dial through RH PPP dialer and it connects fine, but when i launch a browser it gives an error message as if i'm not connected. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you use a proxy?

make sure you enter all your proxies and such, oh and try connect to a IM like yahoo or aol and see if it works...

how would i go about this proxy stuff... i would test an IM client but i don't have one as yet...since i don't have access to the net on that box :S

tell me more about this proxy thing please..

also note that i have no experience with linux

btw - i'm running gnome
