RH 7.2 Gnome, How can I Iconify Netscape
How do you create a shortcut for the desk top under Gnome. I just installed netscape 6.2, but I don't know how to make an icon shortcut for it.
I'm new to linux, and having loads of fun learning, but some help please. |
Thats one problem they don't tell you or provide an easy way but all you have to do is place a link to your netscape executable into ~/.gnome/desktop? I am not sure of the desktop file but there should be something similar under .gnome

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I never could find any doc that said how to in NS or Gnome.

i think you right click on the desktop
then create link (i forget of the top of my head - using win right now) but i know you can rclick and browse to path and even choose your own icon. |
For some reason that I don't know that was removed in the newer versions of both Gnome and KDE.

well, even easier. Add an applet to your Gnome taskbar or a launcher and then when it appears on the taskbar just drag it onto the desktop, voila!, you got your link. What next?, right click on it, and select properties...and you'll see where to write the path of where you installed your netscape. just right out the path and then the 'netscape' file name with which it runs! have fun.
