reverse incremental search - reverting to original commandline

Hi,

to begin searching history via reverse incremental search i hit control-r.

sometimes, i wish to discard the search and revert to the commandline as it was before beginning the search.

are there key combinations to do this?

One way to get yourself back to the command line (and discontinue your reverse incremental search) is simply: Ctrl + c.

thanks.

another key combo to achieve same result is:

alt->

or for purists

meta->

this combo navigates to the last entry of the history stack and exits incremental search mode.

other key combinations for the history stack may be applicable for incremental search. i haven't check these.
