A recovery disk will typically restore your computer back to its original brand new out of the box condition. A windows install disk will be able to restore the windows boot loader to boot your existing system. Your computer does have a recovery partition. What windows OS is on this computer?

If you have any data that you do not want to lose you can boot a linux live DVD to copy windows files to a USB drive.

I have Windows 7 installed. Does this look like it would solve the problem?
