Restricting Dynamic Ipaddress by based on Dynamic DNS host names


hello

I want to restrict the Visitors to my Webserver whom i want to give access
But the persons whom i want to give access. have Dynamic IP..

I want to use DynDNS and update IP address of person.

Based on the Hostname Pointing to Dynamic address of person

Can i Block the visitors???

Wouldn't you be able to get the desired result by creating authenticated users and having them login? This would have the added benefit of allowing the users to access the server from any location.

IP filtering is not applicable unless it's static.

I agree with post#2, it'd be easier to use .htaccess/.htpasswd files and get the users to login.

If i use .htacces/htpasswd and add users there...

if a use who has been given access can share his login details with other persons and can misuse it

i dont want that to be happened

so i want to restrict by IP address.

Dynamic IP address converting to hostname using DynamicDNs

Can Host /IP filtering done???

No. You really don't want iptables to do name-resolution for each connection,
that's madness, the bandwidth, the artificially introduced latency, ...

I'm sure there's a way to make sure with authentication that only one
user can be logged in at a time?
