Restarting mouse via terminal?!

Hello!

This thing just happened to me twice... so I'd like to get suggestions in case it happens to me in the 3rd time :

I was working without doing nothing special and then mouse Frooze! infact, it disappeared from the screen without being able to see where...
Couldn't move the cursor (which I didn't see)... Though I had full control and could ALT+TAB to Terminal, programs, etc...

Is there a way to restart mouse via terminal maybe without restarting the computer?

Thanks!

Depends on what's actually happening. Sounds kind of cool actually, but probably not when you are trying to do something productive

You can try restarting just the X server and see if that brings it back. Next time it 'disappears' type:
CTRL + ALT + BACKSPACE
And it should kill (and probably restart) your X server. Log back in, and see if you have your mouse back.

If not, it may be a gpm issue. Depending on your distro, it may have gpm as an init script, in which case:
/etc/init.d/gpm restart
May fix your problem.

There's a few ideas, good luck!

Cool

Is there a way to restart the mouse stuff without restarting X? When I stop the screen saver my mouse disappears and I have to restart X to get it back.
