Resolution problem. Please Help!!

Ok I've installed SUSE 10 on my pc and everything's working fine except for the resolution. I have a liquid video 17inch flat LCD but for some reason no matter what I try, I can't get passed 800 x 600 resolution. I've tried using the desktop control center as well as YaST2. Each time I try to change it to 1280 x 1024 or any better resolution for that matter, it defaults right back to 800 x 600. I tried downloading Xfree86, but I don't know how to download it and install it correctly. SUSE's cool so far, but I'm sick of my huge icons and poor resolution. PLEASE HELP!!

From the Kde menu, select System -> Configuration -> SaX2. Supply the root password. When SaX2 starts, you will have several graphics and monitor setup tools. Configure each one, then click on Finalize. SuSE should then run /sbin/SUSEconfig to write the config files.

I suggest this because I've seen several posts about SUSE 10 not correctly detecting vidio cards or choosing the wrong driver.

Yea I did all of that but it still defaults back to the 800 x 600 setting. :(

my guess is either it's not seeing your graphic card properly, or your monitor falls into generic, sometimes you can have resolution problems because of that, if it sees it as generic, not as what it actually is, you won't have much options.
