Can anybody please tell me how to change the resolution of X ?

use /usr/X11R6/bin/Xconfigurator ...or set it manually
from XF86Config (or XF86Config-4 depending on what version
u r using) file...

Oh sorry I forgot to add that I dont have root permissions. Is there no other way than depending root to change it?

i dont think so cos these settings are not simply a user
settings...they are for the X server itself...hence any
change will mean that u r changing it for every
user...you need to be root...

Hi! If your root was so kind he might have left a couple of resolution modes so you can jump through them(if you're using KDE) like this: ctrl+alt+NUM_PLUS or ctrl+alt+NUM_MINUS. If these don't work then yeah, you'll have to ask root to change them or add a couple just for you :) Good luck!
