resize2fs: No space left on device While trying to add group #6

Hello linux gurus,

Just trying to resize some partitions.
I had no problem resizing the home partition.

lvextend -L +5G /dev/vg_sys/lv_home
resize2fs /dev/vg_sys/lv_home

works a treat, however, when I try to resize /dev/vg_sys/lv_tmp, I get an error, see below.

[~]# lvextend -L +1G /dev/vg_sys/lv_tmp (this seemed to work OK)
[~]# resize2fs /dev/vg_sys/lv_tmp
resize2fs 1.39 (29-May-2006)
Filesystem at /dev/vg_sys/lv_tmp is mounted on /tmp; on-line resizing required
Performing an on-line resize of /dev/vg_sys/lv_tmp to 458752 (4k) blocks.

Afer reading similar posts, a Linux expert recomended doing a lvmdump
I have done this, and uploaded the tarball to
http://www.idealistatestplatform.com...0929234729.tgz

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thx

tmp resize

I don't have much experience with the resizing. However, tmp is in used by the system and my guess is that you can not change the file system that is active.

I will try booting to a rescue disk then trying to resize the file system.
