Hello folks
Iam wanting to increase the size of a primary partition on win xp.It is now partitioned with system and data on the partitions. Was looking for an ISO tool that will do this, partiton logic seems to be ok but cant vouch for SATA drives. cheers |

What do you mean by "an ISO tool"?
GParted (standalone live CD) and QTParted (on various live CDs including Knoppix) will re-size NTFS. be sure to back up first. Maybe also de-frag, especially if shrinking a partition |

Backup first Defrag a good idea but maybe not absolutely necessary. You will fill up with confidence by actually DOING stuff--not by reading here. We will just get you pointed in the right direction and maybe instill some courage.... |
i had the same problem. windows has an uncanny habit of trying to take over a whole drive, and i originally wanted to install FreeBSD. I got Ubuntu instead which formatted the drive to an ext3. (FreeBSD would not allow me to edit the FAT32/NTFS partitions. So, i got an old 12GiB HDD and installed Ubuntu on that-which works quite well. You might want to do that as a security precaution as well, i.e. windows crashes and leaves you without a working HDD. just a suggestion...
