resize partition with yast

hi!
I have suse 9.2 pro install on a laptop.
I was running online update and I get this error message saying that ( /var is out of space).
when I check the /var partition, 98% of it has been used.
since I have 4.5GB of free space on /home, I want to know how can I use yast or the command line to resize this /home and add the free space to /var
this is the home address

device size type
/dev/hda5 4.5GB linux native /home

/dev/hda10 517.7MB linux native /var

sincerely, clint

You can very probably free a huge amount of space in your /var directory by deleting things you no longer need.

The SuSE Online Update stores all the packages it downloads in /var/lib/YaST2/you. This can become immense in size, and usually you won't need the stuff anymore anyway. You can burn it on a CD if you like and then delete it. In the Online update dialogue, once you've started the download there is an option you can check which keeps SuSE from storing the packages after installation. If you check this and delete the content of the aforementioned directory, the only drawback is that SuSE will list updates you already have, but they will not be checked for download.
