Replacing Gnome and KDE with xfce

I moved to xfce because of perfomance issues with gnome and kde.

my question is, if want to rid my box of things I no longer use, such as gnome and kde, can I do so?

Or will this cause problems?

It would help if you added what distro you use to your profile.
You should be able to remove Gnome and Kde using your systems package manager.
Without knowing what distro you are using it's difficult to advise further.

for example if your distro is fedora parts of Gnome are required for the system TO WORK
