Replaciing java platform by Sun's Java platform

I need to install Sun's JDK to run some of my applications. Do I have to keep the JDK comes with Linux?

Does it have any impact if I override it with Sun's JDK?

I *think* the answers are `no' and `no', so I'd say go straight ahead.

Have a look at the packages that depend on the JDK before you remove it, though. ("Don't delete init" ;-))
