Repeated corrupted virtualbox downloads

Newbie to Linux, over several days and twenty plus attempts with different windows 10 oracle virtualbox os versions. Downloaded appropriate older and newer versions from several different sites, errors indicated a corrupted download. Some downloads would be zero bites. Uninstalled virus protection suite including registry bits and disabled windows firewall. Rinse & Repeated no change.

Finally relented and installed a trial version of VMware with anti virus and firewall restored. SUCCESS ON FIRST ATTEMPT. If possible since I'm just learning would rather not shell out the $199 for VMware. Any advice good, bad or ugly as to what my malfunction might be would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I'm not clear what downloads were corrupt. Is it downloads of VirtualBox or downloads of Win10 virtual machines purported to work with VirtualBox?

I have a VM of Win8 that runs flawlessly in VirtualBox, but it's a legit copy of Win8 that I paid for and registered with MS after install.

I agree with frankbell more information is required.

I installed VB awhile ago by downloading the latest version from their website and have kept it up to date so I have not had any problems. I typically use Firefox and again never had a problem with downloading.

I will post only download it from Oracle and not anywhere else.
