Repeat KMail problem
 

Hi All,

I cannot get KMail to connect my server to collect mail. It doesn't even try to connect because the kppp tray icon doesn't flash, but I get an error message for each of my mail accounts & 'Cannot connect"
I am connected to the web, I can browse, and I am writing this courtesy of Mandrake, but no mail. I have modified /etc/resolv.conf which now reads:
#search local domain
domain free.fr
search free.fr
nameserver 212.27.32.5
nameserver 212.27.32.6

All these numbers are correct.

Mozilla and Konqueror both work OK and I am using kppp to dial out.

Can anyone advise me on what else I can check?

ps Thanks again to Mara for pointing me to /etc/resolv.conf.

The error is saying it cann't connect to you "mail servers"? You're trying to pull mail from you ISP? More than likely they're using pop.

You need to setup up you mail accounts in you Kmail.
There are two(2) server settings depending on you ISP they could be something like this:

Incoming mail:
mail.your_isp.com
pop.your_isp.com

Outgoing (SMTP):
mail_your_isp.com
smtp.your_isp.com
