I have been using debian for a while now and I believed that I knew enough commands to get most of my work done until I realized that I cannot even remove a icon from menu bar.
One of the icon that I created on menu bar is no longer useful and I want to remove it, I tried right click, left click, devoted myself to google god but I found nothing, most results were about removing items from menu.
Please help me regarding this problem.

Edit: Found the solution from a friend.

Just hit alt and left click on the icon you want to remove, an option will of move/remove will come. It can be removed from there.

It depends on which Desktop Environment (or pure Window Manager) and which Debian version you're using...

For Testing/Unstable, try this:
If you're not using GNOME (why not? It's lovely...), have a look at lxappearance → Other → untick box marked "Show images in menus"
