removing directories still asks y or n

Let me say I have searched for an answer, and its probably something very simple.

I've tried to delete directories with other fiels and directories, but it asks me if i want to delete each one. So, I don't want to answer for each and every file. I've tried rm -r, and it still asks. I've tried logged in as root. I'm sure someone knows the answer to this seemingly simple problem.
