Removing Debian Installer using Windows
 

Hi everyone.
I am currently using Windows XP but I want to become a Linux user. I want to have a multiboot system configured in my computer. My first step was trying to install Debian Etch from Windows so I downloaded Debian-Installer Loader for win32 from this site: http://goodbye-microsoft.com/.
The installation always fails so I need to use another method. Now every time I reboot my computer a menu appears to choose between Debian installer initialization or Windows. How can I remove it without to cause any damage and proceed to the correct installation?

Where did the installation fail?

The way you describe it, it sounds like that installer might have put a boot loader in the MBR. You can restore the MBR using the Windows install CD (recovery mode) but--if you are going to set up dual-boot, it is not necessary.

You need to create space for Linux--often by re-sizing the Windows partition. This could be a reason for failure, since I don't think that installer can re-size the Windows partition while running from it.

Please give more details on how the install fails and on the configuration of the computer---eg harddrives, partitions, etc.

AND, be sure any important data is backed up before any more changes to your disk. (Stuff happens)

As stated by pixellany, you can fix your MBR via the Windows install disc.

If Debian Etch failed you, give Lenny(Testing) a try.
