Which distro do you have?
Where do you see this "connection"?
Do you have more than one modem?
What makes you think both ppp1 and ppp0 are connected?

ifdown ppp1 removes the connection.
Removing the entry depends on where you want it removed from.

Niether one is connected because I don't have the modem connected now so they both time out but only ppp0 should be connected because the other network card is for my internal network with the DHCP server runnig on it. The distro is ClarkConnect which believe is taken from RedHat. I'd like the complete entry removed if possible as I don't need it, & I'm not sure where it might be? Kind of new to Linux. Thanks again for your time & any info.

Ahhh... you don't want them to automatically start?

... derived from RHEL and designed as a server/firewall. But it uses APT to handle rpms.

Now RedHat uses a utility called Network Device Configuration called from the main menu. There is also an internet configuration wizard. Either way, there used to be a network configuration dialog.

Try: Settings > Network > Dail-up Connections
(Does it really have a start button?)

Nope no start button it's strictly text from a console. The only GUI is from a browser on port 81 but can't see anywhere there to remove ppp1 either. What happend is I thought there was something wrong with the server one day & turned out was my isp but I tried a few things & somehow ended up with this ppp1 connection? All I'd really like to do is remove it completely, then I'll hook the modem back up, but as it stands now it will connect on ppp0 but times out when trying to connect on ppp1 & says something like no such device? Thanks again for any info.

look for a file called wvdial.conf and open it. Usually,

cat /etc/wvdial.conf
