Question Remove network drive entry from GTK-based file manager

Hi all,

about a year ago I added a network drive (via webdav / davfs) to my desktop Linux. As far as I can remember, I added the necessary line in /etc/fstab und created a secrets file in my HOME-directory under .davfs with the login credentials. The server has changed and I realized that I don't really need the network drive mapped to my desktop computer anymore, so I wanted to remove it. I deleted the corresponding line in /etc/fstab, renamed the secrets file to secrets-OLD and checked whether there was any reference to the network drive in the webdav configuration file .davfs.conf (There was none).

For some reason in the GTK-based graphical file managers NAUTILUS (it's called FILES for some reason at least in the German version) and NEMO, but not QT-based DOLPHIN the network drive is still shown in the side pane. I couldn't find a way to remove it from the list. I guess that in some GNOME configuration file there is still a reference to it. I looked through the settings in the dconf-editor, no luck. I can't remember which steps I took when setting up the network drive, so I must have missed something when trying to remove it.

I would be very thankful for any hints where to look.

Thanks guys.

Usually it is located at your $HOME app/nautilus desktop context menu. Just try grep it from home directory, finding it, try to delete or # the entry.
Quote:
grep -lir 'secret' ./*
then delete the line.

Good luck hope that helps.

Hi malekmustaq, thanks for your hints.

The grep search didn't dig up anything useful, unfortunately. I looked in all directories called 'nautilus' in my HOME-directory and checked the configuration files there. Even though I found one, called servers where I commented out a bookmark entry for the server in question, it still appears in the sidebar. I attached a screenshot. As you can see it is shown under volumes one can mount, not as a bookmark. My guess is that some rather GTK system wide settings file is responsible for this.

Pardon me. I forgot to give you the alternate place where such menu command is hiding.
Try grep it from "/usr/lib", if still it persists, try go up, grep it from "/usr" itself. It may take time to wait and plenty of memory consumed but I am confident you will find it there.

Good luck. Hope that helps.

You can log in as another user, if it is gone the setting is stored in your home directory. By the way, there may be ~/.gtk-bookmarks containing this entry.
