I think you meant "physical"......

Seriously, I suspect it is not the cost of the CD. They may simply assume that the average customer would not know what to do with the CD, and would go back to the store/repair shop for any problem regardless.

In my opinion, I'd just return the laptop. There's nothing wrong with installing Linux on your laptop. It's not written in their return policy. Don't let the store/company intimidate you.

FYI, BestBuy now charges you about $60 to get a recovery CD - granted with additional services - but you really don't need the services they provide with the recovery CD because it's simple enough to do it yourself.

i am curious on why you are return it
but really just send it back
they will wipe the harddrive anyway and dont care if you changed the partition sizes

cause its huge, heavy, the screen doesnt shine enough and sometimes jaunty occupies the whole screen, sometimes i get black on the sides. that is really annoying
