remove compiled software?

Hi!
I compiled apache2 webserver. I'm trying to compile also PHP and MySQL, but I failed to compile PHP successfully, because I forgot to pass arguments, so it would compile also libphp2.so.

I know that I could re-compile the PHP again, but can I remove them both, I want to try everything again from start, because tonight I want to compile latest apache, php and mysql on my webserver and don't want to srowup! Thank you!

go the directory you built the programs in, and type "make uninstall", and I like to use "make clean", if I will be rebuilding the package. ALWAYS SAVE YOUR MAKEFILES!

If you didn't keep your source tree, you can go the same way once again:
1. Untar the source code archive;
2. Configure [with the same parameters];
3. Skip "make";
4. Issue "make uninstall" instead of "make install"
Then "make clean" or even "make distclean" and repeat "./configure" it with correct parameters.
Hope it helps.

Hi. A very useful program is checkinstall, it lets you make installable packages out of sources so that you do not have to mess with uninstalling them.
