Remount flash drive

Hi all, I am having some dramas with my mittoni usb flash drive. When I plug it in I can mount it ok because I have my fstab file modifed and have a script to automatically mount it. The problem is when I unplug the device and then plug it back in later. When I click on the icon after plugging it back in I dont seem to have any files appear. This always happens until I reboot the machine and then plug the device in for the first time when I can see the files again.
Any suggestions??

Try to unmount it before unplugging it. Then mount it when you plug it back in. If you for get to unmount it, just plug it back in and run umount /mnt/flash (or where ever it is mounted) to unmount it.
