Remote Software

Which software is the best for remote view and controlling software?

I have read all the fourms on what people kinda like but I needed some additional feedback personally.

I have tried tightvnc for xp to win2000 but didn't like it.
It was to slow and everytime I right clicked on a folder and there was
a major delay.

Now I use remote admin and it works perfectly but now I need to use it for my red hat 9.

being that I am a newbie I'm wondering what might be the easiest to install and configure as a client on red hat 9 and would realvnc possibly work better than tightvnc? I understand that these two are the leaders as far as that goes and I don't want to ssh in to my computer I am learning red hat and need to be able to visually see what's going on.

I heard about a few others such as winx, laplink, etc..

any suggestions and why will help,

actually u can do everyting with ssh. u can work in a linux terminal but without a terminal u cant do everything. so try to learn terminal (console) commands. there are lots of great tools work in terminal. u really dont need X. i tried VNC but i didnt like it either. then i learned terminal commands. now i just need ssh. u can learn commands by reading their manuels. dont forget that installing X on server isnt a good idea. there are some security holes in X systems. also it reduce system performance.

i must have x running and i must use xwindows due to training issues
so ssh will not work no matter how great the commands are.
thanks for your comments though.

i need a preference between realvnc and tightvnc and whether any other remote program is better or easier to install (Laplink, winx, Etc....)

setup vnc to use less bandwidth

try -compressionlevel 9 and -quality 0 and use a lighter window manager

I use realvnc on my RH9 and FC1 boxes. There's a slight delay, but nothing too major. Which my connection to my boxes is 10mbit to my RH9 (on the WWAN), and a 1mbit connection to my FC1 box. Before I moved my FC1 box, I had almost no delay which it was on the LAN so I had a 100mbit connection.
