remote password not accepted


when i connect to a server remotely (telnet) is asks me for the root uname and password. when i enter it it tells me login incorrect.

when i go to the server and login on it using the exact same username and pass. it work fine

it is a RH9 server

Please help

By default root is not allowed to telnet. You should use telnet with your normal userid and then su to root. But keep in mind that telnet is unsecure coz it transmits all the information unencrypted. You should better use ssh instead of telnet.
