I believe you're looking for rdesktop.
|
wat is this rdesktop...
iam a newbee man... as i told you i am sitting on my laptop and having fedora8 in it.. my friend is sitting on his desktop havin xp in it.. we are connected through lan and i want to open his computer through remote desktop thing..i know his ip and he has allowes remote desktop in xp.... wat is the procedure to do this... |
I don't use Fedora. But basically you need to install rdesktop, which will let you remotely login to XP. It's like XP's remote desktop connection. I think Fedora uses Yum to install packages, so you can probably do yum install rdesktop.
Then run rdesktop, enter the IP address, and you should get a login prompt. If I remember correctly, he can't be logged into the XP machine, and the XP account you use to login must have a password. |
rdesktop similiarly like vnc. It connected 2 OS. More over, it's opensource software.
|
might also do a search for tsclient, which works with rdesktop, and vnc. also, yes it will ask him if he wants to allow the connection and log him out so you can log in. unless you guys have concurrent session working in XP.

There is a way to redirect local drives using rdesktop. See the following link for options.
