remote access
Hi all,
As my thread choice suggests I’m a bit of a newbie to Linux. I would like to install debian on an old celeron 500mx without a gui interface – command only. I would then like to remote into the box under ubuntu or XP and have Xserver and Xclient create a desktop for the debian box, as if the ubuntu box or xp box where thin clients with all services run on deb. From looking at the cygwinX site I think that is the right program to get an Xclient under XP and I guess ubuntu already has this setup. What I would like is for someone to let me know if this is possible and perhaps a starting point for reading. The idea behind this is, if the deb box is less stressed by a gui (its pretty slow) there is less chance of failure. If I can then power the gui on another faster box remotely, admin via a gui is faster. Cheers, Gary. |
Hi Gary,
Well, whatever you are trying is pretty much possible. but some comments Quote:
[And I have no idea whether this can be done without the deb running Xserver. Do post your result in case you are able to do it .. Even I want such a setup.] Shrey |
