Hi,
I have installed slack 13.37,dual boot with windows xp 64,and i got this error message during boot:
99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
9999999999999999999999999999999999999.....
I fix the windows with fixmbr command, but now i can only boot my linux from cd image and when i type lilo it gives me :
[root@nigat source] # lilo
Fatal: Cannot open: /etc/lilo.conf
Any ideas how can i fix this?
It's been a while since I used Lilo. IIRC that error indicates that Lilo can't see the partition or the wrong partition is listed for the root or boot partitions. After booting from your cd, if it boots into your system, check /etc/lilo.conf for errors. Pay close attention to the partition names. Run lilo to update the mbr. If you are in the rescue mode, you are running in memory in the initrd environment. You will need to mount the real / partition and chroot to it so it can find the real /etc/lilo.conf file.
