Reinstalling Boot Loader
 

Alright so I had to wipe my windows partition and it got my boot loader with it. I dont have a floppy drive because I hate them and dont have a linux boot cd. Is there any place I could get a iso to make a boot disc or is there any way to reinstall my boot loader from windoze. Thanks!

in windows edit your boot ini file...boot from the cd and press F8 to access...if you were dual booting and complete cleared your Win partiton, your probably out of luck, the MBR on a dual boot Win/Lin Sys would have been on Hda1

i don't think so. you most definately can reinstall the boot loader from either windows or linux. the MBR does not reside on hda1, where windows resides but on hda. if you reinstall a linux bootloader into hda1, then you'll pretty much hose your windows partition. unless you can either get a hold of the linux install cd and use some kind of rescue mode to either boot into linux, then you are out of luck. the only thing i can think of is for you to download your distros .iso's and burn them so you can boot into linux to reinstall the bootloader. if you were using lilo, then just run /sbin/lilo. if using grub, then run grub-install /dev/hda

or you can have windows handle the dual booting by editing the boot.ini (winxp/2k) file or something like that, but i don't know how to do that, so google....
