Reinstall Ubuntu 10.04 LTS without erasing partition
Recently, I've had problems with my Ubuntu partition on my computer, so I have decided that I might have to format the partition or reinstall Ubuntu.
My problem is that I have files on my partition that I would like to save. I've tried every tool I've found that allows Ext2 to be read in Windows, but none of them work for me. The best I have gotten is that I would be able to see the folders in /, but that is it. I was wondering if it was possible to reinstall Ubuntu without having to erase the partition. |
Boot from a Live CD - this will allow you to read all the files and copy them to some backup media :)
Or, you could install another version of Ubuntu, and then recover your data, then delete the old version. |
