Thumbs up Reinstall os via ssh - new bie here.

I've installed some programs and I can't seem to make them go away in order to make my site fully functional again. First time was the White screen and after I purged, removed, make uninstall and tried everything possible now I get "Server Error" when I check the site and my guess is that thos 2 packages made some additional files and configurations that I can't find and remove. So the only thing left for me to do is to try to reinstall the os via ssh. I haven't tried this before and have no clue on how to do this.

Additional note:
I'm using wpress and the site is working well when I use wp default's settings but I kinda "hacked" the files a bit to make some of the wp* wp* wp* go away from the source and show something else. Everything worked well til I instaled those 2 packages and screw everything up.

If "wpress" stands for "WordPress" and the "some programs" you installed are related to WordPress (themes, plugins, etc) then you should list exactly what you installed and from where and list exactly what you tried to uninstall and how. To fix things maybe restore a backup (you do make backups, right?) or clean up your docroot and start from scratch but this definitely should not need an OS reinstall.

It's not clear exactly what you're talking about here. When you say "programs", what do you mean, extensions for WordPress, or applications within the server OS (which you don't say what it is)? We're dealing with two very different things here, an operating system on a server, and a dynamic web site installed on that server (if that's in fact what you're even talking about). If WordPress is borked, it's fairly trivial to delete and reinstall it, and reconnect to your database. If you're trying to rename directories and components in WordPress, this is not trivial and requires some knowledge of how to edit a LOT of different files. If you've done something to hose up the operating system, that's another matter altogether. It's not clear from your description what's actually happening, but I suspect it's a WordPress/Apache issue and not the actual OS that's the problem.
