Regular installations / Yum

Arghhh I had so much diffculties with installing amule/bittorrent at regular stuff and somehow it failed! I even opened a few topics and no one could have helped me I think since I done all right (I think).

and also tried the regular ./configure && make
make install.

Somehow, amule/bittorrent worked, only with yum!

What can u say about that? do u think u know what I've done wrong?

I assume you are using Fedora Core. YUM is the recommended package manager for FC4, so I am not suprised if package installation works well using it. Compiling from source should have worked fine as well, but sometimes you may experience problems with missing dependencies or other compilation issues.

Try Suse or Mandriva if you want to use an rpm based distro with lots of gui utils. Fedora Core is good though, you may need to install yumex if you don't want to use yum from the cli. In FC5 there will be a gui tool called PUP for package management.
