refused connection Desktop Sharing
 

Hi

I am using linux mandriva 2011 KDE type
my firewall is disable
i used kfrb desktop sharing


I tried to remote the linux mandriva 2011 using other pc that has ultravnc viewer and real vnc viewer.


but got message
Refused uninvited connection attempt from 192.168.xxx.xxx


please help how solve this issue

VNC is not a terminal emulator like Putty, but it's a tool which allows you to access the GUI desktop/resources of a VNC server thru some already created VNC ports. So, is there VNC server installed on your mandriva system? Did you create any VNC port on mandriva (if it has VNC server installed) before connecting to it from other PC? If yes, which port you used to connect to it? Can both systems ping each other? Also check if you can connect to mandriva system thru Putty.

Im not sure if the kfrb is a type of vncserver but when i checked to he software management and search vncserver
i found libvncserver0 - An easy API to write one's own VNC Server


I used krfb desktop sharing theres an option to create New Personal Information i believed it will create port 5900.

even putty its not working. maybe im lucking some software

Krfb is a desktop sharing tool and a part of KDE environment, which allows you to connect to other machine even using VNC client. (To be honest, I didn't much notice it in your first post).

But since you mentioned that putty is also not working, then there could be some connectivity problem between two machines. Did you check connectivity (using ping)?

Pinging between two machine was ok

I just install openssh server then restart
and i tried to remote using realvnc in windows still nothing happened
tried to ssh using putty it was ok now

I noticed there's a lot of krfb running under notification near at system clock
so I closed it one by one then trying to configure with New Personal Invitation

then it works.

But i still dont get it the root cause.
anyway it works now

I think this is exactly the problem - at least for me with "refused invitations"

I think the bug is that multiple copies of krfb aka 'Desktop Sharing' are running; you use one to generate the invitation but it is _not_ the one that is accepting connections (or something).
(I think maybe it's possible that this is compounded by instances created by session restoration across logins?)

Closing all the instances of 'Desktop Sharing' using the system tray, then open a fresh one using the K menu or whatever - problem solved...

I quite like the combination of kepas, krfb and krdc for desktop sharing around my local network.
