redirecting dns to web caching box

Hi Guys I wondered if somone could help me with this, I already have a Linux web caching and filtering box set up with squid, url blocking and a gui that does blocking of downloads such as .avi and .mp3 etc and it works very well in house. I would like to do the following at my friends place where he offers wirless internet access in his cafe. I want any website requests within the cafe to re direct to my Linux box, check that the url is legit etc ie filtered for porn etc or its not downloading music etc then return back to his router and go out on to the net, so as not to use the bandwidth or Internet at my caching box. does that make sense? My box simply determines if the request is legitimate or not

At the curent moment of course in my office we are using the box as a true web caching box, with filtering etc

many thanks I hope I have explained it ok and you can help

thanks Paul

You can do this using dansguardian. It should be running on the same server as squid and listening on a different port. The users(PCs) will have configured as proxy the dansguardian port and will get all the traffic filtered. You can configure warning pages and a lot of other stuff using dansguardian.

You can read more here:

java socket
