RedHat ---> SLackWare

hi guys , can some of u give me advice on what version of slack is better, cuz i'm tired of the windows-like Redhat , i mean its cool for a total newbie, but i think not for one that wants to know every thing about UNIX

so the question is :
1 which version of slack is said to be the best ?
2 is there a way that i can change to slack and keep all the config
or setting the same ?

1. Any version is just as good. Although any thing from 8 and down
cannot be upgraded to 8.1 or up since the packaging system has
been changed.

2. Probably not.

2. Probably not easily

However, you can backup your existing /etc directory, and then after you get slack installed, use some of the config files you backed up to setup the new ones. You can also backup the . files in your user's home directory to save a bit of the customization you have made on some applications (assuming versions aren't a huge change).

Cool
