redhat boot problem
I am dual booting redhat 7.2 and windows xp. I am using grub or whatever the default boot loader is. it was booting into linux fine. But for some reason now when I boot into linux it boots into the console not the graphical version. I want to know how to get it to boot into the graphical logon and from there to kde or gnome. I cant do anything with all text.

First try
startx after you logged in, if X starts fine than open your favorite text editor and edit /etc/inittab file There will be a line id:x:initdefault: x - stands for a number 3 or 5, if it is other than 5 change it to 5 |
y'know it's really not a problem... just different. :) It's very likely that everythign is working fine, just worknig differently.

when I put startx after logging in it comes up with the following errors:
Fatal server error: Caught signal 11. Server aborting XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining. |
id:x:initdefault: - the x is already set to 5 which means it should still be booting into graphical mode. I tried using the Xconfigurator but after I went through it and it tried to start up it said there was a problem. Could this be booting into the console for memory issues. Well if there is a chance that this could be the cause of my problem then im gonna set up a partition for swap. So ill see how that goes. Otherwise the only thing I can see is changing or adding a command line in the boot sequence through the boot loader grub.
