Redhat AS4_U5_x64 with 8 GigaByte RAM and very slow

Hi all...

I have an Intel-based system with 8 GigaByte RAM, and when installing RHEL 4 Update5_X86_64, i found that the system is running extremely slow, and i mean reaaaaalllly slow during installation. The system is hardly doing anything, and it takes about 50 minutes just to get to the HD partition setting.

But if i reduce the RAM to 6 GigaByte, everything is working fine, and done with the installation process. As i tried to add more RAM, the slow process is coming back.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Thanks.

I don't know the exact solution but i am pretty sure about one thing that any operating can only handle a certain limit of RAM only.
Like XP can only utilize 3.8 Gbs of RAM anything above that will be a waste and XP wont use it!

So i think this rule applies to all OSes!

Go onto redhat.com and grab the kernel for your system for high/large memory and install it.

I thought that LargeMem kernel is only available for 32-bit Redhat OS ?
