Question Redhat 9 USB mouse keyboard!

I seem to having a n00bish problem on redhat 9. I dont know why but either my USB mouse works or my USB keyboards. I have changed it to various ports etc and conclude that the ports are not a problem. any reason why only one of them work.

On the rare occasion both of them do work! BUT THAT IS VERY RARE! :'(

Any help would be appreciated . thx for your time. and am greatful for the advice thx. OMFG no one knews the sollution to this noobish questions :'(.

ok, if you can get a regular keyboard or get the keyboard to work, run

/usr/bin/redhat-config-mouse and select USB
then run
/usr/bin/redhat-config-keyboard and select usb and see what happens
