Redhat 9 System not halting properly


Hi,
My computer doesnt turn itself off completely after I execute halt or shutdown command. It was fine a few days ago. any idea why this is happening?

How are you shutting down? Are you using the shell, kdm, or gdm? Did you just install a new kernel?

if i use halt command, all processes are killed but it doesnt turn itself off (even though I have atx mobo), If i use shutdown -h now from shell then its fine.
